Welcome to PACE
The purpose of the Fund’s PACE Program is to recruit, educate, mentor and place individuals into registered apprenticeships as certified nursing assistants across Essex, Hudson and Union counties. Starting wages are between $18.50 and $24.50 an hour across all shifts, including full- and part-time and per diem employment.
The PACE pre-apprenticeship program expands the student’s career pathway opportunities with industry-based training and classroom instruction and is aimed at people who are disconnected from employment, training, and education.
Within the workforce development system, pre-apprenticeships serve a critical role for people to acquire career-specific skills, advance work-readiness, and connect them to longer-term career opportunities. The PACE Program seeks to eliminate economic barriers commonly associated with an individual’s inability to invest in skills training and work readiness. In order to mitigate these barriers, the PACE Program encourages the use of stipend payments for all pre-apprenticeship program participants.

Requirements
The following is needed to complete your application.
Social Security Card
As a state funded pre-apprenticeship program, a Social Security Number (SSN) is required for job placement as it serves as your permanent identifier in state and federal databases
Covid Vaccination
Vaccination against COVID-19 is no longer a requirement, but it is preferred and prioritized. This is primarily for infection control, patient safety, and liability.
High School Transcript (or High School Diploma/ GED/ College Transcript/ College Diploma)
Your high school diploma (or GED) serves as proof of a foundational education. It verifies that you have basic reading, math, and comprehension skills. This ensures you can safely understand medical instructions, chart patient data, and manage the responsibilities of the role.
Influenza Vaccine
Healthcare personnel work directly with vulnerable populations, the vaccine helps prevent transmission of the flu virus to those who are at high risk for severe complications.
Immunization Records
Healthcare personnel work directly with vulnerable populations, such as the elderly and immunocompromised patients. Proof of immunity prevents the spread of highly contagious diseases in healthcare settings.
Valid Identification
Up to date identification is need to verify your identity, confirm legal employment eligibility, and for security purposes.
